There is a ton of different posts and articles out there, both pro & con, when it comes to the recent passage of Healthcare Reform. As more information is leaking out, it is apparent that many of the lawmakers never fully read the bill and there will be many unintended consequences. Some we will have to wait and see over time.
One of the largest will be the access to pharmaceuticals and other treatments. This article on Pharmaphorum looks at how Healthcare Reform will restrict access to novel agents and new therapies through price controls and formularies. If you are a physician and you hated the insurance companies telling you what to write for treating your patients, that will get worse overtime. If you are a patient and you are angry that the insurance companies won’t cover some of the treatments that you want or need because of cost, well overtime you need not worry because some of those treatments will never make it to market at all.
Like they say when an election is within the margin of error, the impact of this bill is to close to call for now.
